Friday...For The Birds! Has Everyone Gone to Roundtop But ME?

i was decluttering again ... and again...
when i came upon some not so new spanish moss
but i am a firm believer in reuse, recycle - so, it being Spring....

i love birds, nests and eggs.....so

                i thought about nesting...
feathered friends
giving back to nature
so i laid it in my empty birdbath
i watched, waited, bit by bit - strand after strand
they carried it away until it was gone
happy friday, happy weekend! Jennifer
P.S. My friend Ann(Commerce,TX)is on her way to Autin and then Roundtop, I see blogs of folks on their way...
happy hunting, wear comfortable shoes, bring toilet paper and I'll be here in Maryland...for the birds!

Recipe for success.... Grapefruit Spinach Salad & a friend

Laughter is an audible expression or the appearance of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy (laughing on the inside). It may ensue (as a physiological reaction) from jokes, tickling or other stimuli. It is in most cases a very pleasant sensation.
Grapefruit Spinach Salad Recipe

Serving Size 1 (350g) (Calories: 161-not including 2 tbsp bacon)
Recipe makes 6 servings

1(16ozs) package fresh spinach leaves
3 large grapefruits, peeled and sectioned
3 large oranges, peeled and sectioned
1(6ozs)can sliced water chestnuts, drained

3 tablespoons grapefruit juice
2 tablespoons wine vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 dash Tabasco sauce

Garnish:
1/4 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
2 tablespoons bacon bits( or 3-4 slices bacon, fried crisp and crumbled)
You can also top with cooked chilled shrimp or  grilled chicken

& arrange in a salad bowl. Top with grapefruit
& orange sections and water chestnuts.

Let's Go Friday! Yard Sales - Estate Sales - Flea Markets Baby!

Flap your wings, ruffle your feathers, pack your bags chicks - it's Friday let's fly! Whatever it is your searching for - I hope you find it and it's a great deal! Have fun and thanks for keeping in touch!
Jennifer - after work today I'm taking friends to my friend Colleen's new shop location " The Pink Poet", tonight I am lying on the couch with my puppy Autumn telling her how much I missed her during the week along with Spice, Elaine, Thomas and Jazz - my husband already knows that but I'll soothe him with a yummy dinner of take-out. I'll sip a vodka tonic (wine gives me killer headaches) and watch tv until at least 9 ( give me a break - I get up at 5 and he gets up at 2 am), Sat. we sleep in (John works 70 hours a week) and then we're having a Vietnamese lunch of Pho ( hot noodle and veggie soup) with my son and his fiancee. And then the rest of the fly by moments of the flash in the pan weekend are unscheduled.

Set your your clocks back Saturday night!

Can't find 'em when I want 'em

Another vintage garden item idea - can I locate one - ZIP!
I have friends with horses, horses across the street, horses up the road, a friend with 9 miniature donkeys, auctions in the area - old horse muzzles to make one of these planters for myself - Hell NO!
But yard sale season is here and I plan to go out early, network with friends and neighbors. I might not find this but I bet they'll locate something on my list. Colleen already came across several blue glass canning jars in her 2 shops, Georgina called and said she has old perfume bottles for a project. I know you treasures are out there.....you little imps!

We're having an Open House....

I can't wait until next Saturday - pleeeeaaassseee be a nice day. I'm having an open house with my two friends Gretchen and Bobbie. Bobbie is a chef and a Restaurant Management teacher in a high school - she plans to bring bottled gourmet items and plants from the horticulture department. Gretchen had her own shop until she had her son and I'm sure will have one again one day. She is super talented - great style - probably because she's a graphic artist. She's been collecting garden items, vintage patio furniture and other gems along with custom made lamp shades. Anyone near Woodbine, Maryland come on over!

I'm In The Garden!!!

I can't help it! I just keep seeing photos of more and more wonderful garden ideas! I have a friend that has 5 garage buildings loaded with what she calls "junk" that she wants to take to auction so... I asked her if she by chance had any old windows or wash boards.....guess what I'm getting! Yup - both! Next is to purchase annuals for all my containers. I purchase perennials in the gently used areas of garden centers and Home Depot and Loews - my rose garden has perfect bushes I bought several years ago on the 80% sale rack simply because they didn't have a bloom on the bush. I stopped by a local garden center and they were throwing out bulbs because it was past the season - I inquired and they sold me 1500 tulip, crocus, daffodil and jonquil bulbs for $6. Killed my back planting them but the results the next year were marvelous! They're still popping up years later. Love that bargain!
