Chill and Serve!

What's New In Your Garden?
While you're out treasure hunting for the day
looking for rustic gems for your yard, things you cannot live without, going for a scenic drive, meeting a friend for lunch.... you can have the recipe listed
below in your crock pot!
I have been collecting primitive odds and ends for quite some time. The inside of my house is getting less cluttered - whew. But my gardens are being tucked with perennials, buckets, funnels, baskets & more!
Etsy and EBay along with perusing magazines have continued to feed my wild imagination.
see what I mean... it amazes me what's out there!
It's been a fun summer of collecting, planting and friends.
Is there something you're on the hunt for?
What do you collect?
I'm looking for:
  • a claw foot tub
  • an enamel colander
  • chicken feeders
  • funnels
  • money in the bank
Pulled Chicken Sandwiches: Place bone-in leg quarters in the crock pot and baste with your favorite barbecue sauce and add 1/2 cup of broth in the bottom of the crock pot. Cook on low for about four hours then shred chicken and allow to marinate for an additional hour in excess sauce. When shredding with a fork, do not overdo it as this will make your sandwich soggy in the end. To serve, scoop the meat on a sturdy roll and top as desired—try provolone, crisp lettuce, onions or coleslaw.

Come home, put comfy clothes on,
paper plates, an icy drink & dinner's ready!
Chill!

Wishing You A Smooth Sunny Day....Recipes Too!

"We need, each of us, to begin the awesome, difficult work of love: loving ourselves so that we become able to love others without fear so that we can become able enough to enlarge the circle of our trust and our common striving for a safe, sunny afternoon near to flowering trees and under a very blue sky."
June Millicent Jordan
I've decided that a change of pace would be nice and since I have a smoothie every morning and they are a refreshing delight to start a 5 am day - not when my body clock say I am to rise.... I've listed a few that sounded delish to me. I uses as much fresh fruit as possible. We have a Trader Joe's by my house and now an enormous Wegmann's - so I buy berries, bananas, kiwi, apples, etc. But there are frozen peaches and other fruits that are good for on the go risers if you chose not to use ice cubes or simply to have on hand if you're low on fruit and they really are very tasty. I keep yogurt in the frig. in regular size containers but you can also just buy the larger one to save a few pennies. If you have a recipe you'd like to share - send it over. When the fresh fruit starts to come out - I'll be there! When I can pick at the local places ... even better!

HE will give his angels charge of you
to guard you in all your ways.
On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you dash your foot against a stone.

  • Pottery Barn
  • Goodwill
  • Pier 1
  • Yard Sales
  • Thrift Stores
  • Estates Sales
  • The Container Store
  • Friend Swap Parties
  • Home Goods
  • TJ MAXX
  • Marshalls
Where do you find your favorite things?

I have had every pattern and color china under the sun. Loved them all. Blue willow, red transferware, fruit, flowers, spring, Christmas. I've mentioned many a time that I am decluttering and simplfying my style.
I do have seaglass, shells, apothcary jars, photo of family, friends and images of things I love. Colllections of feathers, favorite books.
But ever so slowly, when I'm out and about I find myself adding a piece or two to my collection of white serving pieces. Weeks go by and I won't see a thing. Then I'll be in Home Goods and there it is! A cool plate or a little bowl.

Asian grocery stores often have unique items. I use these white spoons to serve h'orderves!

Soup too, of course. I mix, I match, I add, I gift.
These spoons are great to tie on a jar of jelly, jam or salsa as a gift.

Pier 1 has a new line of serving sets for sampling.
They also sell individual mini dishes and bowls in white and clear glass.
Prices begin as low as $1.00.
These are great for individual sauces, varied salsas, and more.

So whether it be white ...

or glass...

or a container...

decorate with...
glee!

Monday Morning All! My Mother's Day Moments....

restful

mother's day

the best

I don't need jewels
or fruit basktes

breakfast in bed
now this is a funny story... momma is sleeping
soundly one Mother's Day morning when I hear
my two lovely boys yelling at one another...
"I told you it wouldn't work!!!!" "You jerk!" crying... yelling.."I didn't know!" I trudge down the
stairs to see my older son glaring at his brother
who is in tears, totally frustrated.
Todd yells "He's such a jerk!
I told him you couldn't make an omemlet
 in the waffle iron!".
My sons give me gifts with their love all the time,
but GOD gave them as a gift to me.

  • Matt & Connie called from South Korea

  • We had Korean food and Sushi with Todd & Ravy
