Wings

When you dream, ponder things,
use your imagination....
do you ever think about being
something else in nature?
I've wondered what it would be like to be my dog many a time! She has a loving and sheltered life. Her needs are met, she gets treats. Autumn is loved and shown a a great     deal of affection which she soaks up to the point of sheer bliss and wagging tail.
Butterflies
delightful, vivid colors
patterns, shapes
almost perfect in design!
They flutter, they flit, they fly. Wouldn't you like to be able to do that?
and they bring smiles to people's face -
be it young or old...
Would you like to be a horse
galloping in a field of green,
a sassy cat perched in a window watching the squirrels play, a child again?
I think I might be a soaring bird.... but then I'm quite content being me too!
I'd love to hear from you, Jennifer

Little Byrd's post said.... A Lovely Sentiment

i was reading a post by little byrd today and it touched me...

she said "Making a hand shake pact with a friend to not spend every minute of our lives working and to enjoy our family and friends more."
isn't that so true...please stop by her blog and say "hello", jennifer Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke: 6,7

White Wednesday....From a different point of view!

Flowers in the window box,
cat upon the sill,
sun shining in the sky
to do with as you will...

Spring brings hope and flowers too
to brighten any day
to show us we are not forgot
and cherished in a way.

Love is blind but oh so fine
it happens now and then,
when our time is spent and shared
between a special friend.

The birds they sit high in a tree
while you may listen to their song,
with spring you feast your eyes upon...
how can that be wrong?

Flowers in the window box,
cat upon the sill
sun shining in the sky
your day yet to fulfill.

      we all have our views....
a vignette with a White Wednesday twist!  jennifer

Tuesday's Thoughts of a Gentle Soul

“But tomorrow, dawn will come the way I picture her,

barefoot and disheveled, standing outside my window
in one of the fragile cotton dresses of the poor.
She will look in at me with her thin arms extended,
offering a handful of birdsong and a small cup of light.”

Victorian Hat for the birds!

WINGS, BREASTS AND BIRDS! 19th Century
"The entire bird is used, and is mounted on wires and springs that permit the head and wings to be moved about in the most natural manner." Harpers Bazaar 1875
Frank Chapman an ornithologist in 1886 spoke of what he viewed as the destruction of birds for millinery purposes. He wrote a letter to the editor of Forest and Stream to bring this to their attention. His letter listed all the species seen on two afternoons in the uptown shopping district of N.Y. city. In one afternoon, 700 hats were counted and on them 20 birds recognized. 543 hats were decorated with feathers. This was one of the most debated fashion issues during the 1900's because the use of bird feathers were used as a fashion ornament not only for hats but for fans and boas too. I still think they look cool....but I love our feathered friends!
