I Had A Dream Last Night...

I had a dream last night. First let me begin by saying
that without my GPS I am directionally challenged.
LOST
And it's broken.
So this dream was about being lost.
In a storm.
Going up and down roads.
Raining cats and dogs.
Up and down streets.
Can't find my way.
I end up by the ocean.
I love the ocean and the beach.
It's gray, dreary, cloudy.
I'm lost.
Windshield wipers going.
Hundreds of ducks everywhere.

mmmm hmmmmm
DUCKS

swimming
floating
blowing
walking
quacking
DUCKS
Then I see a man scoop up a handful.
In my mind I think - these poor babies need help!
I pull my car around the corner where the water isn't as deep
in the road and I open the door of my car...
in pile the ducks...
every shape, size and color.
Now I have ducks on the floor, the seats, my lap,
all staring at me totally silent.
The storm stops suddenly.
No rain.
No wind.
Just ducks...in my car.
Silence.
They're staring at me.
The duck on my lap looks me in the eye.
and I hear
 Grrrrrrrrr!
And I waked myself up!
THE END!

The Freedom Of A Puddle Pouncing!

whether it we pooch or playfriend... i firmly believe in splashing in puddles!
i don't really like to use an umbrella when it rains
i love storms
thunder
roaring winds
aren't rain boots fun to look at?
i think umbrellas are kinda cool looking...lol
this morning as I was getting in my car for work at 6 am
a dad and his little boy (probably 18 months) were heading out to day care
the dad said "look puddles! want to jump in them?"
and he did. with joy, spirit, gusto, messily, dripping
and dad said "look, here's another one! here's a bigger one!"
now how cool is that!
Rain bashing, rain crashing,
In the puddles, children splashing,
Mother's tongue has started lashing,
Everyone is wet!
Rain slopping, rain stopping,
In the puddles, children hopping,
Mother's hands have started mopping,
Everyone, I bet!
Sun waking, sun breaking,
In the puddles, children quaking,
Mother's arms have started shaking,
Everyone, she'll net!
Sun applying, sun drying,
In the puddles, children crying,
Mother's breath is now a sighing,
Everyone's upset!
Sun gleaming, sun scheming,
In the puddles, children steaming!
Mother's smile, now is beaming,
Everyone's her pet!

Lullaby of Rain and Rainbows Prayers for Japan

And God Gave Us Rainbows....
Acts 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
HIS protection
His Love
Nature's Beauty
Shelter from the storm.

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant. Genesis 9:14-15 (NIV)

Monday - Marvelous Weekend... All The Chores Did NOT Get Done!

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

it's ok, i say it's alright
no house work for me this weekend!
because....I transplanted

hostas   black-eyed susans
ferns

peonies and basil too

how, what, where, why?
well, my friend Ann said I could have some ferns,
I transplanted some hostas and black-eyed susans to a new location,
my friend Pauline gave me about a dozen peony plants
that were growing in her woods and never bloomed along with
about 100 daffodil bulbs that needed to be separated,
and I love basil!
my husband was the digger of holes - my savior!
yes, Autumn ran away...
and spent most of the day watching from indoors
My Mom is doing well - thank you for your prayers.
It's supposed to rain most of the week -
Thank you Lord for watering my gardens!

Just Another Rainy Day In Maryland ... Recipe!

UGGGGGGHHHHH! I am so much a sunshine person! I need warmth, rays, gleem, glow, golden. I made it through the snow storms, the ice, the sludge, the crud, the sprays, the gluck. Said not too many negatives.
I read books, made cards, drove to work, reorganized, created posts, made friends, kept up with friends and family, visited people. My son got married, we had the holidays.
But ok... now it's the end of April and I'm cold, it's gray, it's yucky and raining and I really would like warmth other than my husband and a comforter and two dogs and a cat in my bed!
I looked at Country Living, Victoria, Country Home, Glamour, Good Houskeeping,
Veranda, Coastal Living, I cruised the net, made new friends on blogs, ventured to new towns, even other states!
I planned my garden, bought fresh flowers, gave fresh flowers!
But it's all over for me now.......so..............
I'll Cook!
Hope you enjoy this recipe for a rainy day! Hugs, Jenn

CROCK POT CHICKEN WINGS
The ingredients for this recipe are:
1/3 cup of soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons of oil
1 tablespoon of honey
1 teaspoon of ginger
18 chicken wings
and 1/3 onion, minced
Add Ingredients to Crockpot
In a crockpot we're going to add the wings the garlic the onions the ginger the honey the soy sauce and two teaspoons of oil. We'll go ahead mix the wings up with the other ingredients to make sure the garlic and onions cover all the wings adequately.
Cook 6-8 Hours
We'll cover the crock pot and turn it on low for six to eight hours. After about six hours the wings are done. And you can see the wings have soaked up all the flavors, they've turned a nice golden brown and they're ready to eat.  Cliff Wildman  About.com Food

I admit it.....

I don't like winter!
But I have to admit that if all the rain we've had in the last few days had been snow...it would have been quite a mess....wellllll = except = I work in a high school and we get SNOW DAYS sooooo I would have cuddled under the covers and gone right back to sleep with Thomas (my kitty), Autumn and Spice (my dogs). And they would have sighed and said "Mom, this is the bomb!"
The End.

Rainy Day Projects - What Do You Do?

rainy day blues
what do you do?
I iron, fold laundry,
watch videos, read
and
Do Canning!
I might make 40 pounds of applesauce or 4 pints. Lately, I've been making mini batches because I haven't been able to go apple picking. I have tried some new recipes though and they look yummy. Cranberry, apple, walnut relish, Cranberry applesauce, Pumpkin pecan butter and this morning before work I made Caramel pear and apple sauce.
Do you can? Have any recipes you'd like to share? Funny stories?
Ever burned your face with hot pumpkin butter? Well I can report that I have - nose and eyebrow - blistered and everything. Yes, a pumpkin butter burn. Whatever!!
Have a cuddle under the covers kind of day.... Jennifer

Life is a Comedy of Errors - The Cowboy Wedding

me

the cowboy wedding

love conquers all

love them cowboys

OK folks, we've discussed my sense of humor, my strong will, and how many and how many times it has been tested .... and like the energizer bunny.. Saturday was no exception!

We had plans to attend a very special wedding. Our neighbor's lovely daughter Melissa to her best friend and former bull riding husband Eddie. It poured the entire day. I mean rained!!! So we dashed to our car, jumped in and I promptly slipped and fell face first on our blacktop driveway. #1 Photo of the Little Rascals dog "Petey" = me = I have a shiner. Ever the stubborn Italian, I went back in the house, dropped off my drippy garments, dashed to the shower, re-did my hair & and make-up ( a little extra to cover the black and blue that had begun to sprout). What the hell! My husband patiently waiting, concerned and helpful at the same time. He is a champ. # 2 photo - we missed the wedding, the rain stopped and on to a beautiful reception with a bride that looked like a dream and friends all around us. # 3 Saw a lot of hot cowboys = the groom is a former bull rider - now a judge and he has plenty of cute friends.
** Girls, I don't know if you've ever had the pleasure of witnessing a line up of tight cowboy butts wearing Levis on a fence but it is something I will never forget.
Melissa and Eddie - a journey lies within your love and friendship.

Friday Praise

My Friday praise: new friends, old friends, trusted friends, treasured friends, remembering my sons first moments on Earth, thinking of clusters of roses in bloom and the glorious fragrance they emit, the look my dogs give me when I walk in the door, picking up a dozen fresh eggs from a neighbor and knowing how good they'll be in the am, the rain nourishing my gardens, a hug from a friend at the end of the day. Shaking my head to realize - the day was good to me - God's Grace.
