Bucket List - My Personal Best! Don't Forget To Breathe!

The Bucket List
days are whirling by and it's April in the school year already!
students will be graduating, files are completed, reports done,
I'm at my second job 4 months, my new place 1....
how does that happen?
so I now have a new bucket list... because Life is always on the move...and I seem to be too!

to take a luxurious milk bath

to make a list of movies I want to see
and watch them!

  1. Black Swan
  2. Hop
  3. Pirates of the Carribean - new
  4. The King's Speech
  5. The Fighter
visit local wineries and try different wines with friends

save spare change and see what it adds up to by the end of the year

volunteer at a animal rescue
play in the sand

relax and take time for me - get a massage once in a while

investigate and try becoming more of a vegan
shout out to my friends "You're The Best!"
(my friend Bobbie "Favorite Teacher of the Year Award")
go to a Maryland beach

try 3 new flavors of ice cream
my favorite is coconut choclate chip at Hoffman's in Westminster,MD (home-made)
go apple picking and make pies with my kids
(we did it when they were little - time to do it as adults :))
spend some time in Cape May, NJ

There are other things on my list and of course I'll add more. That's what makes Life fun. I'm also open to suggestions and would love to hear ideas you have .... what's on your list?
go fly a kite?

Thank you, Thank You Very Much Valentine!

today i was thinking about all the people that deserve a little love and thanks...because i believe that "Valentine's Day" isn't just for sweathearts, husbands and wives, girlfriends and boyfriends. i have always tried to make it a special day for "special someones" - but then that's what I love to do. it dosen't have to cost a thing - you can email a pretty poem or quote, leave a sticky note in a hidden spot - it not what you spend.
honest
so... here's to
nurses and caregivers
music teachers - all teachers!
cab drivers
day care staff
physcians
Hospice
Cafeteria Workers
coaches
bus drivers
Postal Workers
and Mommas and Pappas too!

Love, Jennifer

My Teacher My Friend - As The School Year Closes... A Special Thanks

The following poem written by Samantha Abeel,
a thirteen-year-old girl with severe learning disabilities.
Writing became a way for her to share her feelings and to shine with her gift for words.

To a Special Teacher
by Samantha Abeel

When the sun rose
from under its misty veil,
you were there to watch,
like the birds over the sea.
When the wind came quietly
and rested in your ear,
you listened, as the earth would at dawn.

When the rain fell,
you reached out with your hands
and let it wash everything away,
like waves as they grasp the shore.
When the plain brown seed was planted,
you could already smell the fragrance of
the flower that was to come,
and you were proud
as a good gardener should be.
Thank you for believing
that there was a flower waiting inside
and for taking the timeto help and watch it grow.
When the sun rose
from under its misty veil,
you were there to watch,
and I am thankful.

As my school year comes to a close,  I see my seniors graduate....I look on with pride at how far they have come and what journeys lie ahead. I have also had the pleasure of experiencing relationships that have formed between teachers and students. Mentoring, friendships, enthusiasm, encouragement, stability. I am honored by the care and life skills they give. As for our Special Needs students - their gift has been to ME! Their love, endless smiles, helpfulness, school spirit, team spirit and care of others.  So this post is for teachers, care givers, educators - we all have something to learn don't we?  With Love, Jennifer
