Fawns - cute as can be - leave them alone!

Did you know that mother deer leave their fawns alone most of the day so other animals do not detect their mother's scent - if you come across one - leave it alone! You can find more information on deer and other wild animal rescue on wwww.wildliferescueinc.org or call Wildlife Rescue Inc. in Hampstead, MD at (443) 507-0950. There are special formulas to nurture wild animals to enable them to survive their fragile condition upon arrival. A friend of mine and a neighbor discovered a newborn fawn in her wooded yard but wisely monitored him until they discovered his mom had been accidentally killed in the area. Wildlife Rescue was contacted and when they arrived they carefully packed up the little guy and took him to his new home. Currently, they have 28 fawns being fed every 4 hours. When strong enough, they will be released on surrounding farms. The farm owners have a "no hunting" policy.
